It was a lively day in FS. Both the blended learning and distance learning children were in the spirit of UAE National Day; they dressed up in UAE flag colours/the national costume of their country. Children learnt about the culture and heritage of the UAE and tried to compare it with the culture of their own country. Children also spoke about the leaders of the UAE and sang the National Anthem. They also frolicked on the tune of an Arabic song.

Children of FS1 had an exciting and fun filled day. Both the blended learning and distance learning children were ready in their school uniform with a snack bag, water bottle and a cap to go on their first ever field trip along with their teachers. They boarded the Big Bus for the virtual field trip and on the journey, they saw different means of transportation such as taxi, RTA bus, tram, and Dubai metro. Our first destination was Dubai Frame. We took the ticket and climbed the elevator to Sky deck level. Children were thrilled to see the transparent glass walk and the view of Dubai from the top. We hopped on to the bus again to reach our final destination; Burj Khalifa and viewed Burj Khalifa in 360-degree. Later, they were engaged in hands on activity of making a building or a transport that they viewed during the virtual trip.
They posted pictures of their visit on the Padlet link: https://padlet.com/the_winchester_school/DubaiVirtualFieldTrip Children celebrated ‘Wellness Week’ with happiness and joy. Teachers through being a role model for children explained how to improve childrens’ wellbeing, develop positive thinking and develop behavior patterns required for lifelong skills lasting in their adult life. Whole week we had planned activities related to Wellness during our live lessons. Well Being – Day 1 began with Yoga: To feel good. Well Being – Day 2, Our second day of Well Being is all about exercise. There are a lot of benefits gained from exercising, including that it fosters a positive mood and releases the stress of the day. In a day, children need to be outside in the fresh air either playing sports or simply playing/reading and so on. Well Being-Day 3, We discussed the importance of sleep and maintaining good mental and physical wellbeing and to establish a night time routine. This may include a bath, reading a story or listening to quiet music. Well Being Day 4- Technology time, Children were encouraged in setting clear and consistent guidelines from an early age to use technology with limiting time of usage. Children shared their activities done during their recreational time. They also dressed up in their favourite dress to support wellbeing week. Well Being Day 5, Children were encouraged to foster positive relationships and being resilient by looking at story and songs for the same. The topic was further discussed upon. They also did a craft activity using paper, glue, colours and made a beautiful flower and wrote their few personality traits on the petals of the flower.
On November 3rd 2020, The Winchester Team of FS1 celebrated UAE Flag Day with excitement and enthusiasm. The UAE Flag day marks the anniversary of HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan becoming the President of the UAE in 2004. We explored the UAE Flag; it’s shape, the colours of the flag, what each colour represents and how we show respect to the flag. We had all Emirati children join for flag hosting as well. Children showed and spoke about their own country flags and also compared few details in the flags of their own country and the UAE flag. Children created their own UAE flags using dot painting, cutting and sticking or painting. They posted their pictures happily on the Padlet Wall. We further secured our ability to identify the UAE flag by playing a game of jumping when we spot the UAE flag amongst other flags. Then we went on to creating the UAE flag with fruits and vegetables and enjoyed eating that scrumptious healthy treat!
