World Down Syndrome Day is marked each year on March 21, beginning in 2007. The 21st day of March was selected to signify the uniqueness of the triplication of the 21st chromosome which causes Down syndrome. To create awareness FS1 children were shown a video to make them understand that all children are the same and need to be treated equally irrespective of their physical and intellectual traits. They also wore pairs of mismatched socks and were excited to show it to their friends and teacher. Children were also engaged in an activity where they had to design a pair of odd socks using their creativity and imagination.
