The theme of science week was ‘My Body’. This event was organised for FS1 students to explore and learn about their bodies along with their parents. They were engaged in various activities related to the human body parts such as reading stories, joining the puzzle pieces, creating a human skeleton, sorting healthy and unhealthy food, brushing teeth on the big dentures and making self-portraits using natural materials and mirrors. Dressed up as their favourite body part, students and parents enthusiastically participated in several hands on activities. On 8th of September, FS students celebrated this event by dressing up as their favourite rhyme and confidently singing it with rhythm, actions and expressions. Children were shown a PowerPoint presentation where the teacher had an interactive session on what charity is and in what ways children can be involved in their community. At this tender age, they created their own helping hands and kind hearts to show that small acts of charity go a long way. Some children were able to talk about ways in which they could help their community and school through charity.
The parents were informed about the Early-Years foundation stage curriculum, the provisions provided in the school and how best children learn through play and active learning. They were also apprised about the key policies, health and safety protocols, assessments, the daily routines in the FS classrooms and the different modes of communication with teachers and other departments. Parents’ valuable feedback was collected through a survey to identify any gaps and work on improving them.
